Opportunities to Exhibit at The Rendezvous Café, Maidenhead.

We are open for 2015 bookings for The Rendezvous Café! If you are interested in exhibiting FREE OF CHARGE in this busy space then please head to our applications page. Work is assessed for appropriateness in a family environment, but otherwise it's first come, first served.
The Rendezvous Café is operated by Age Concern Slough & Berkshire East and is situated to the rear of the main reception of Maidenhead Town Hall. It is a secure area and well-used by visitors and Town Hall staff alike. The café operating hours are 8:30am to 3:30pm. However, the space is often used well throughout the day and into the evening, as it is a through-route to the popular 300-seating Desborough Theatre and council meeting rooms. Art on the Street have been placing artists and photographers into this space, free of charge, for over a year.
The space itself is large, with fixed hooks that simply require canvases and framed pieces to be strung, ready to hang. The Rendezvous can accommodate up to 22 pieces of assorted sized work. The layout of the space can be found here, but we recommend a visit in order to have a full understanding of the size of the space.

FAQs
Do artists sell much work from The Rendezvous?
It depends on the amount of work an artist is willing to put in. Shows with private views, information on the walls (artists bio, contact details, QR Codes and more), consistent pricing and plenty of independent publicity usually do very well. The last artist who went down this route sold 15 of 22 pieces and gained three commissions. Art on the Street will also cover the show on social media and add you to local event listings.
How many pieces can I show?
There are hooks for approximately 22 hung works of varying sizes. However, we have accommodated fewer, much larger pieces in the past. Only the existing hooks can be used and new hooks cannot be added.
How long can I show for?
We allocate the space in blocks of two weeks. You are very welcome to book two consecutive fortnights if they are available, however the space is usually booked up very quickly indeed.

Is there commission on sales?
Yes. There is a 20% commission on sales which is split between Art on the Street to cover administrative fees and Age Concern Slough & Berkshire East as a donation.
How does someone buy an artwork?
There are two ways to do this: either the team at The Rendezvous will sell it on your behalf and then give you the money directly minus commission. Or you can have clear signage in the space asking buyers to contact you directly and then pass on the commission to Art on the Street at the end of the show.
Is the artwork secure and safe?
The Town Hall has 24 hour security patrol and CCTV, however we must stress that work is displayed at the artists own risk and neither Age Concern Slough & Berkshire East or Art on the Street can be held responsible for loss or damage.

What is the hanging procedure?
At the point of booking, Art on the Street will give you a date to hang and a date to take-down. These activities must only take place between 9am and 11am or 3pm and 5pm in order to cause minimal disruption. Work must be strung and ready to hang on the day, as there are no facilities for working on frames and canvases. There is a loading bay directly into The Rendezvous (it can be accessed via Park Street and is directly next to the Registry Office) through which you can transport your work. You will need to announce yourself to the team at The Rendezvous to have this door opened.
How do I organise a Private View?
The team at The Rendezvous are happy to cater a private view. If this is something you are interested in, please email us around one month in advance of your intended private view date and we will put you in touch with the right people.
