Art on the Street will be be hosting the floral work of Natasha Rossell at The Rendezvous Café in Maidenhead Town Hall until Friday 22nd May.

Originally from South Africa, Natasha's parents encouraged her creativity from a young age and eventually she became a textile designer, leading to a move to the UK to develop her career. Inspired by nature, her floral textile designs lead to rendering larger-than-life flowers on canvas saying "I love the small details, their delicacy, strength, shape, texture, colour and the hidden beauty found in an unexpected view."

Her work is available to view and purchase until Friday 22nd May. The Rendezvous Café is operated by Age Concern Slough & Berkshire East and they will receive a donation of 10% of any sales of original work from the exhibition.

More of Natasha's work can be found at www.natasharossell.com

Art on the Street at The Rendezvous Café at Maidenhead Town Hall will be hosting the work of Andrew Dunning this month.

Andrew has been painting all his life and has recently been focusing on the colour and vibrancy achieved with acrylic on canvas and board. Among this current display are his experimentations with water as a reflective and uplifting visual subject in their own right – demonstrating that reflections of reality offer just as much interest and satisfaction to the eye as the objects being mirrored.

Seascapes and beaches contribute to the exhibition with their similar watery theme - evoking a Mediterranean intensity that is reflective of his love of, and yearning for, an idyllic outdoor life.

Andrew works in a range of other media including pen& ink, biro and coloured pencil. He also sculpts life forms (human and animal) with works in papier mache and modroc (mod rock) plaster of Paris bandage.

His work is available to view and purchase from 13th to 24th April. The Rendezvous Café is operated by Age Concern Slough & Berkshire East and they will receive a donation of 10% of any sales of original work from the exhibition.

Andrew is happy to take commissions in his style of similar subject matter.

Picture“Abstract, Beautiful and Contemporary”
The Rendezvous Café at Maidenhead Town Hall is the next stop on Sheila Riley's journey with her beautiful Contemporary Collage. Having taken a year out to marry and travel to New Zealand with her new 'Kiwi' partner it's time to return to the work of promoting her art.

Sheila's work is mainly inspired by water and reflections and her collage pieces are made using tissue paper, magazines, paint, thread and ribbon to create a sense of depth and emotion in every work.

Since her first solo show in 2012 she has successfully taken part in many Street Galleries including Art on the Street, and has exhibited at a number of Art Fairs and galleries in London, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Surrey and Suffolk.

Her work is available to view and purchase from 30th March to 10th April. The Rendezvous Café is operated by Age Concern Slough & Berkshire East and they will receive a donation of 10% of any sales of original work from the exhibition.

The photography of Malorie Bader will be in The Rendezvous Café at Maidenhead Town Hall from 2nd to 27th March. Malorie is a biologist and clinical research scientist with a passion for photography who confesses to travelling long distances with the goal of “sightseeing” via her lens and will spend long periods of time gazing to get a brilliant image.

She is an American citizen who came to England with her American parents and sister and later became naturalized in the United Kingdom.  Malorie also lived in Strasbourg where she worked for a pharmaceutical company and while there she followed her other passion of playing piano as background music in some grand hotels in Strasbourg and in Baden-Baden nearby.

Her favourite photographic subjects are landscapes, seascapes, townscapes and old colourful architecture, as well as capturing split-second surprises that animals provide us with and floral scenes. Malorie is one of the photographers named in the “Bradt guide to the Azores” by David Sayers which gave her an opportunity to see her photographs from the point of view of a publisher seeking to inform the reader with images that tell them a story about a place rather than to look at images from a purely artistic point of view.  Malorie gets a buzz from the excitement of capturing a scene which can change a moment later in the blink of an eye and prefers beautiful scenery and uplifting colour to serious subject matter and is frequently inspired by visiting exhibitions of all types of art.

All work is available to view and purchase directly from Malorie. The Rendezvous Café is operated by Age Concern Slough & Berkshire East and they will receive a donation of 10% of any sales of original work from the exhibition.

The Rendezvous Café at Maidenhead Town Hall will be hosting the juicy and delicious work of Lisa Collins this month This will be Lisa's first solo exhibition, despite having worked for many years on individual pieces and commissions, saying “2015 is my year to finally come out of the solitary confinement that is my shyness when showing works”

The exhibition is inspired by a recent commission for an over-sized plum, leading Lisa through a body of work depicting disproportionately sized ‘cheeky’ fruits and vegetables. Trailing though the supermarket, Lisa found an exciting delicious world just waiting to be converted to huge canvases and bestowed with personality - “Life is serious enough. Busy enough”

Lisa enjoys painting larger than life,“I can never paint big enough! Practicalities like doors, windows and the boyfriends car boot need to be taken into account.”

Lisa’s 'plumpcious' plums & voluptuous veg are available to view and purchase from 26th January to 27th February. The Rendezvous Café is operated by Age Concern Slough & Berkshire East and they will receive a donation of 10% of any sales of original work from the exhibition.

Artspiration at Art on the Street

One of things that really make us beam from ear to ear at Art on the Street HQ is when we see families and children enjoying our events. In December the fabulous workshops by Claires Court Schools and Norden Farm Centre for the Arts were so well attended seeing children of all ages learning something new and creating some really special work.

Another group of junior art lovers were using the event to help them to achieve their nationally recognised Arts Award qualification. Artist and teacher Shalini Bhat of ‘Artspiration’ felt that AotS was an ideal way to introduce her students to artists in practice saying

“it was the perfect opportunity to meet artists involved in various art forms. They would come across an array of art practices and choose a favourite work and directly talk to the artist to know more about their studio practice. The workshops were an added bonus. All of which contributed towards their Arts Award journey.”
Shalini's students had this to say:
“ We went to Art on the Street with our Art Teacher, Shalini - it helps us with art awards and we exhibited there ourselves one year! My mum bought 3 paintings ! And I had a hot chocolate”
Amy (8)

“ I love Art on the Street, we go every year.  Its inspiring to see all the different types of Art on display, it gives me ideas for my Artwork too.  I would love to have my own stand when I am older.”
Niamh (10)
We’re overjoyed to know that Art on the Street has really made a difference to these artists of the future!

To find out more about Artspiration School of Drawing & Painting and how your child can get involved, visit their
website or Facebook page.

Brazilian born, Paula now lives in Maidenhead. She is a graduate of Bristol University and works full-time for a local clinical research organization, painting her psychedelic and South American inspired artworks in her spare time.

"I begin a painting with an idea but then the painting takes over and tells its own story" says Paula. Her detailed pictures reflect the vibrancy and style of her native Salvador, Brazil combined with her love of 1960s aesthetic.

All Paula's artworks are available to purchase directly from The Rendezvous with a portion of the sale going to Age Concern. Original prints are also available via Etsy.

This month at The Rendezvous Café at Maidenhead Town Hall is “A Hazy Shade of Winter” - The long awaited exhibition of twenty-two paintings by the West London Abstract Artist Catherine Phillips.

The exhibition is a celebration of the richness and depth of Winter, its festivals, weather,

The vast majority of the paintings on display have been created especially for this exhibition, which will take the viewer on a journey from late autumn, through the depths of winter, and into early Spring - Samhain to Imbolc - taking in Halloween, Guy Fawkes’ Night, Remembrance Day, Christmas and New Year’s Day and touches on themes such as violence against women, personal growth and self-fulfilment.

Catherine Phillips lives and works in Brentford, West London. She is a member of the Artists’ community at Johnsons Island there, and has previously exhibited at W3 Gallery in Acton and at the Brentford Gallery. She will be keeping a “Hazy Shade of Winter” diary, in the lead up to the exhibition and more information is available at www.ostaralondon.co.uk

Islamic artist Anna Tarafi is exhibiting her work in The Rendezvous Café until 1st August. Anna converted to Islam sixteen years ago and quickly became enthralled with the beauty of Islamic art.

"I am a self taught artist and over the past ten years I have developed my own style and interpretation of this fascinating art form to bring a new concept to Islamic art and to bridge the gap between East and West."

As always, a percentage of proceeds from the sales of artwork in The Rendezvous goes to Age Concern, directly benefiting the community.
